I previously revealed that Microsoft was planning to release the update sometime in the middle of October but now we have the exact date: Microsoft confirmed that Windows 8.1 will launch on October 18th at 8:00 AM ET. The worldwide rollout will be available through the Windows Store. It will also be available as a retail boxed copy and on new devices by October 18th.
